An annual three day event with stalls and workshops promoting local and national associations concerned with organic agriculture and protection of the environment.

Inauguration of the new ‘Cité du Vin’ (wine centre) by the President of France, which will be the scene of a die-in demonstration – a lie-in with a slight difference – in protest at the excessive use of pesticides on the vines in the Bordeaux region. This is one of the worst affected areas of France in terms of pesticide pollution. It’s to raise awareness of the issue in the lead-up to the EU debate and decision on the use of glyphosates on June 6th.

An evening of story-telling with young climate change leaders in Australia for two weeks of talks.

Presentations on all aspects of growing nut crops, including organic chestnut cultivation, environmentally efficient irrigation, carbon sequestration using cover crops, and improving soil health. Tours to orchards, University of Nebraska experimental farm, and processing plants, Social and networking events.

This initiative, backed by several environmental and health groups, is a petition to raise at least a million signatures before the end of 2017, to influence the EU’s decision on whether or not to ban glyphosate completely. The extension has been temporarily halted and the aim is to have it banned altogether – by making the decision makers listen to the people!

Shared meal and showing of the fim by Marie-Monique Robin ‘Qu’est-ce qu’on attend?’, as part of the events for Pesticide Action Week. Seven local associations have helped organised the event and will take part in the debate following the showing of the film. The film tells the story of the town of Ungersheim in Alsace, France, which undertakes 21 actions for the 21st century to reduce their carbon footprint.

“Vegetable patches everywhere and organic food for everyone” is the theme for the two days of talks, films and workshops.

“An introduction to backyard beekeeping for beginners interested in keeping one or a few hives as a hobby. Focusing on the top-bar hive, the workshop describes hive design; placing the hive in the yard; obtaining and installing bees in a new hive; basic hive management in spring, summer and fall; pests and diseases; and harvesting honey and bees wax. Information on sources and costs of bees and equipment is provided, and codes and regulations affecting urban beekeeping are discussed.”

The Festival will be held on Fairchild Lawn on Berea College’s campus from 1-6pm and will feature live music, booths from local businesses, food, games, and activities (all child-friendly)! More than 20 vendors will be there!
Berea College Dining Services will serve dinner on the lawn from 4:30-6pm.

The 5 internationally renowned judges will give their recommendations, following the hearing in October 2016, in a livestreamed event in English, French, German and Spanish.

August 24, 2017, NYC –The Vigil for International Peace is a transformational, grassroots effort dedicated to promulgate peace through participation in art, song, dance, music, prayer and ceremony. The purpose of this Vigil is to awaken humanity to harmony and peace through the power of intent and celebration. Our vision is to heal and bridge our lives and communities to achieve divinity alignment and recognize the oneness in all. UN Resolution 55/282: “Declares that the International Day of Peace shall henceforth be observed as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, an invitation to all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities for the duration of the Day. This Resolution was based on Res.36/67 of 1981

Rev Susana Bastarrica is a former United Nations International Civil Servant, an Interfaith Ordained Minister International Speaker, activist of the New Seminary, Peace and Environmental evolutionary interactivist. She’s the Founder/Organizer of The Vigil for Peace and Ecology born from the ashes of the 9/11 tragedy. With a group of friends, Susana Bastarrica went into the streets with candles and prayers in the midst of the horror. She went out of the house in the evening with some friends and some candles to all the fire houses around her neighborhood. They gathered every night in the dark of the UN Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza (47 street between 1st and 2nd avenues) and went all around the neighborhood stopping at the devastated Fire Houses bringing them food and comfort.They were gathering and singing every night until police advised them it was unsafe to congregate. Thus, they proceeded to other public venues such as Lincoln Center Plaza and Central Park. After many gatherings in Central Park and Lincoln Center, the amount of neighbours and friends became unmanageable until the time came when were invited as a temporary place for assembly by (at the time Park’s Commissioner) Mr. Henry Stern. Much to Susana’s surprise, Mr. Stern suggested to held a event at the most iconic place in Central Park: The Naumburg Bandshell! Since 2002 The Bandshell has become their home for the celebration of the International Day of Peace September 21 of each year. Mr. Jeremy Gilley, of Peace One Day was instrumental in promoting the signing of the Resolution 55 /282 issued by the General Assembly on the 7th of September 2001. The first Vigil for Peace was held on the 21st of September 2002 to coincide with the United Nations designated International Day of Peace on September 21st each year. Since then The Vigil for Peace is being held at the Bandshell in New York’s Central Park on the closest Sunday to September 21st.
We invite you and your friends and family to participate at The Vigil for Peace & Ecology on our 16th Celebration at the Bandshell on the 17th of September from 9:00 to 5:00pm. 	In commemoration of the International Day of Happiness  Tuesday, 20 March 2018 Special High-Level Event at the United Nations  Happiness at the Center of Government Work 10am – 11:30 am, in the UN Delegates Dining Room (NYC headquarters, 4th floor) NOTE: At this point, a UN grounds pass/badge is required for admission This day has been decreed for annual recognition by UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/66/281, Co-hosted by the Missions of UAE, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Portugal and Slovenia to the United Nations, as founding members of the “Global Happiness Coalition. Professor Jeffrey Sachs, in his capacity as director of the Global Happiness Council, introduces the first policy report on happiness and well-being. Sankofa: Reclaiming relevant indigenous cultural and ancestral values to make a case for nature-based solutions

The chieftaincy, elders and people of Funko community-located in the Western Region of Ghana- honored World Water Day by creating awareness about the need for circumspection when adopting vices or policies which consequently cause public health problems and are detrimental to the environment. Illegal/unsustainable mining – popularly referred to as “Galamsey”in the country- and fringe activities which indirectly empower the practice are examples of such vices.

The Funko community is close to the Ankobra river and, symbolic of the strong inter-connectivity still existent between most societies and their natural environment. This river is an important source of drinking water for many communities in the Western Region of Ghana- and beyond- but continues to be polluted through illegal mining activities. It flows at least 120 km south to the Gulf of Guinea (Atlantic) and is located very close to the western part of Axim, a commercial center of the river basin.

In celebrating this important day, we sought to highlight the important role some historic cultural practices (spoken word, dancing and drumming) and community dialogues can play in influencing the re-adaptation of relevant conservation values which were more commonly applied by the ancestors. Overall, the concept of Sankofa is espoused. Sankofa is a Ghanaian-originated cultural principle which literally means to take back what was lost in order to protect the future. This -arguably- manifests the tenets of sustainability. There are many of such doctrines in many communities across the world.

The principle teaches communities the importance of going back to their roots- and reclaiming worthy values- in order to move forward. For example, the indigenous and unadulterated local anthropological cognition reveres some key natural receptors – such as rivers, wetlands and forests- as deities. By tapping into the novelty of such values, the current mega trend of sustainability would be well anchored and in a way which significantly addresses most of the conservation, food security and sub regional stability challenges existent now. A cultural dance and community dialogue were among the activities undertaken to commemorate the day.

On World Water Day, the funding partner and collaborator for the performances –who is also the founder of Windhouse Resources Systems (WRS)- would reach out to stakeholders to solicit input on case studies concepts intended to be develop in order to make a stronger case for nature-based solutions. WRS is a boutique sustainability consultancy located in Ghana – West Africa.

EarthX Presents the World’s Largest Environmental Expo, Conference and Film Festival in Dallas

With a mission to connect the global community to create a sustainable world for all life and future generations, Texas-based nonprofit EarthX is hosting the world’s largest environmental expo, conference and film festival from April 13-22, 2018, at locations throughout Dallas.

The EarthX three-day expo, five-day group of conferences and 10-day film festival champions progress and innovation by bringing together environmental organizations, businesses, academic institutions, government agencies, interactive programming and thought leaders. The event also fosters celebration with interactive and immersive family entertainment, live music and sustainable food pavilions.

Founded in 2011 by Dallas-based environmentalist and businessman Trammell S. Crow, EarthX, formerly known as Earth Day Texas, began as an outdoor event spanning five blocks of Flora Street in the Dallas Arts District. It has grown to occupy approximately 1/2 million square feet of indoor and outdoor event space in Dallas’ historic Fair Park. In 2017, the event drew 116,000 attendees, 800 exhibitors, more than 250 speakers. Approximately 1,200 volunteers will be needed to put on the massive event this year.
